By the rosy cliffs of Devon, on a green hill’s crest,
I would build me a house as a swallow builds its nest;
I would curtain it with roses, and the wind should breathe to me
The sweetness of the roses and the saltness of the sea.

To those of us who live here, it’s no surprise that Devon is consistently ranked as one of England’s top counties when it comes to quality of life. The Daily Mail crowned Chagford, a 10 minute drive from our base in Moretonhampstead, as the best place to live in the UK in 2015, and many similar accolades have been heaped upon the county and its picturesque towns in recent years. Many of the reasons that make Devon an attractive place to live also happen to make it a fantastic place to get married, too! Please read on to discover out top 3 reasons to get married here in Devon.
On a sun-drenched Saturday at the end of July we headed up to Somerset for an engagement shoot with Gemma and Jake, a pair of travel loving surfers whose wedding is coming up later this year. After 4 years travelling the globe together, Jake took Gemma totally by surprise by proposing in the rather less exotic setting of their back garden! We met up with them at that very spot and went on a lovely stroll through the surrounding countryside, taking in golden cornfields, a picturesque riverbank and a cider apple orchard. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this beautiful couple better and can’t wait to capture their big day in a couple of months’ time.
After a busy weekend of shooting and editing, I decided I’d write about two bits of hardware I’ve purchased over the past few months that have really made my life a lot easier – a large monitor and a graphics tablet!
