A beautiful day in September saw us make a short trip to the beautiful Oak Barn in Hittisleigh for Victoria & Hassan’s special day.
Despite being a stone’s throw from the busy A30, The Oak Barn is a truly beautiful hidden treasure set in peaceful, idylic Devon countryside. The complex of three barns and historic 18th century cob farmhouse have been lovingly restored using traditional building methods and are set in landscaped, terraced gardens which themselves are surrounded by rolling farmland which include fields of linseed, a feature we made use of in our evening portrait session!
Victoria got ready on site in the wonderful thatched Acorn Barn, where we enjoyed making the most of the spacious and well-lit bridal suite, whilst Hassan got ready at a friend’s house in nearby Moretonhampstead, which just so happens to be the village we live outside of!
The ceremony itself was held in the main building of the Oak Barn, a stunning former granary conversion with high vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams and big windows that really make for a spectacular marriage location.
The floral displays in tasteful shades of pastel peach and pink by Charlotte Hogg had an elegant, traditional beauty that really suited the occasion.
As the sun went down, Victoria and Hassan’s guests enjoyed games on the patio whilst we took them for a stroll in the lovely countryside around The Oak Barn. We thought it was a wonderful idea to have a pizza van courtesy of Devon Wood Fired Pizzas on site in the evening!
Music was ably provided by the Johnny Fuller Band, one of the area’s most popular wedding bands who never fail to get everyone on their feet to dance the night away.
