We travelled up to Somerset to document Meagan and Richard’s big day – and what a glorious day it was! The sun was shining, the skies were blue and it felt more like late summer than early April!
Meagan and Richard both serve in the UK’s armed forces, but hail from opposite ends of the country; Meagan is from Scotland originally, and as well as being well attended by her family, their big day had lots of fun details celebrating her heritage, from bags of homemade tablet to the kilts worn by her father and the pageboys! In a moment of serendipity, we bumped into former Lib Dem leader Paddy Ashdown outside a local pub which Richard and his best men were having a quick pint at on the way to the church. As a former royal marine himself, Lord Ashdown clocked Richard’s dress uniform and the two had a quick chat before we grabbed a photo for posterity.
Harry unexpectedly bumped into an old school friend he hadn’t seen in years – he is also a military man and formed part of the couple’s guard of honour outside the church – and a couple whose wedding we shot last year, Sarah and Dom, were also in attendance, so we very much felt like we were among friends! indeed, Richard and Meagan got married at the very same village church that we’d been to for Dom and Sarah’s wedding, St Mary’s Church in Stoke-Sub-Hamdon, before heading on to a reception at the beautiful Great Tithe Barn at Haselbury Mill. In the evening after the speeches, we stepped outside with the happy couple for a quick portrait session as the sun crept over the horizon. We love how happy they look in these shots!
In general, it was a pleasure to spend the day with this lovely, genuine, down to earth couple and their very friendly families. Congratulations again to the new Mr and Mrs Warner, we hope you had a wonderful honeymoon!
